Settlement / Release Letter

After you complete the installation of the car loan, you will be
contacted by the bank to collect the Settlement / Release Letter to show
that you have completed all your payments (Also to collect the vehicle
registration card if you have never collect before).
If you did not get it, then contact the bank to locate the letter. It will
be held by the branch that issued your car loan. Go and get first before you
can sell/trade in your vehicle. Even if you have your vehicle registration
card in hand, you cannot sell the vehicle until you get the Settlement /
Release Letter from the bank.
Without the Settlement / Release Letter, you're unable to start the trade-in
process until everything is checked out.
NOTE: At the beginning of 2020, banks stopped issuing release letters
and instead updated settlement status directly into JPJ's online system (e-Batal
JPJ). However, please verify with your bank that they have updated your
settlement status in JPJ's system before starting the trade-in/selling
process.
